2LT (AM)

2LT is an Australian radio station serving the Lithgow region. It was opened in July 1939.[1]

Established in July 1939, Radio 2LT has served the Lithgow region in the New South Wales Central West with studios located on the Great Western Hwy Bowenfels before relocating in 1974 to a purpose built facility at 289 Main St Lithgow where it remains to this day.

On the 30th of September 1984 the station radically retooled, changing frequency from 1395 khz to 900AM and callsign to 'Radio 90' to reflect the dial repositioning.

The station returned to the original callsign by way of a transitional presentation 'Radio 90 2LT' in 1989 with full restoration of the 2LT monika by late 1990.

Former presenters include:

From 1997 The Main Street Lithgow facility has also housed the supplimentary FM station which began life as KISS 95.3 FM. On the inception of Sydney DMG station VEGA 95.3 FM (later to be known as Classic Rock 95.3) obviously the Lithgow FM brand had to shift frequency up the dial to 107.9.

In August 2002 2LT and the FM supplimentary licence changed hands later to go into administration. Subsequently in more recent years the previous proprietor again took over operating the stations.

2LT was the first regional station in Australia to achieve multiple national broadcast industry awards in 1980.
